Blueprints for shared mobility growth to be revealed at Fleet Mobility Conference
Rafael Cuesta, former head of innovation at Transport for Greater Manchester and now a transport consultant, will set out the challenges and potential solutions for how shared business mobility can start to build volume in the UK.
Cuesta will present a session at the Fleet Mobility Conference on November 5 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, where he will set out the blueprints of what he sees as the biggest gaps in the market for future mobility.
The Fleet Mobility Conference will provide unique insight into the trends, developments and challenges that affect the way businesses move their people, goods and services around the UK, with expert conference sessions throughout the day.
The show will help vehicle manufacturers, leasing, rental, mobility providers and other fleet suppliers with the knowledge and resources they need to plan - and help their customers to plan - for 2020 and beyond.
Cuesta said: “There are three main gaps that I will be looking that are ideal for suppliers into the mobility market to be developing solutions for, including the infrastructure needed for shared assets, the infrastructure needed to facilitate shared journeys and marketing the idea of shared mobility itself.”
He will be proposing some solutions for those gaps in the market, as well as look at shared mobility examples from his work at TfGM, as well as other cities like Brussels, Madrid, Vienna and Hannover.
He said: “In a city like Hanover they have been working on the shared mobility concept for around 10 years and while they have a great story, the uptake is still relatively small.
“For shared mobility to work it has to be scaled up in much greater numbers and I think there is a lot of work to do to explain and educate potential customers on why this concept is going to work for them and why it’s better than what they’re currently doing.
“It’s only really been the last couple of years that we’ve started to see great solutions coming to market. The potential opportunity is massive but there’s still a lot of work to do.”
